Combined Tyre and Alloy Insurance

Ensuring your tyres are in top condition is paramount, as they are the sole contact point between your vehicle and the road. Neglecting them not only compromises the safety of your vehicle but could also lead to substantial repair costs.

Alloy wheels add a refined touch to any vehicle, offering advantages in weight, durability, and aesthetics over traditional steel wheels. It’s no surprise, then, that they have become a favoured choice for motorists across the UK.

However, the reality of driving means that tyres and wheels are at risk of damage from punctures, scrapes against kerbs, bollards, or walls. Even minor repairs can be unexpectedly expensive. To guard against these potential costs, consider securing your vehicle with Combined Tyre and Alloy Warranty from Direct Car Warranty, providing peace of mind and comprehensive protection for your car.

FAQ

What is Tyre and Alloy Insurance and what does it cover?

Tyre and Alloy Insurance covers the cost of parts and labour to carry out repairs to alloys or tyres that have suffered accidental or malicious damage. If they are damaged beyond repair, we will contribute £250 towards the cost of a replacement tyre or £150 for a new wheel. The maximum aggregate amount payable is limited to five claims per period of insurance.

This policy covers alloys and tyres, including winter tyres, fitted to the vehicle provided these are in accordance with the manufacturer's original specification and within legal limits. Tyre and Alloy Insurance is available for passenger cars, light four-wheel commercials and motorhomes (under 3,500kg GVW).

Is Tyre and Alloy Insurance worth it?

Even when the damage seems fairly small, repairs can still prove pricey. And if you decide not to do anything about the issue, your vehicle may not be safe to drive. Plus, fixing it further down the line could turn out to be even more expensive.

Does car insurance cover alloys and tyres?

The majority of motor insurance policies will cover minor cosmetic damage to your wheels, but these repairs are likely to cost less than your excess. Meanwhile, the likes of punctures, cuts or bursts and any damage caused by braking will not be covered by most insurers.

So, taking out a Tyre and Alloy Insurance policy could still prove a sensible choice. It means you won’t have to fork out a fortune for repairs or replacements and you’ll avoid having to risk your no-claims bonus when fixing what is relatively minimal damage.
